Football

Football and basketball sit at opposite ends of the scoring scale, and the contrast shapes the markets: few goals favour match odds, many points favour totals and spreads.

Match odds, futsal and the “soccer” label used in other markets are listed. British prices are usually fractions (11/4, evens), whereas exchanges and many apps present decimals.

Advertising has two football-specific points. The whistle-to-whistle code, an industry arrangement and not law, has applied since 1 August 2019: before 9pm, TV carries no betting ads in a window that opens five minutes ahead of a live sporting event and closes five minutes after it has ended. Premier League clubs also pledged, on 13 April 2023, to take gambling sponsorship off matchday shirt fronts from 2026/27.
